Membership Categories

Life Members are natives of Shetland and those connected to Shetland by descent, marriage or residence and have full voting rights and qualify for election to the Council. Life Memberships are a £250 one off fee.

Ordinary Members consist of natives of Shetland and those connected to Shetland by descent, marriage or residence and have full voting rights and qualify for election to the Council. The annual fee is £25.

Shetland students studying in Edinburgh or the district can join the Association for free.

If you are a friend of the Association but don't qualify for a life or ordinary membership through descent, marriage or residence you can still get the benefits of membership through the associate category. However  you will not have voting rights or be able to stand for the council. The annual fee is £25

All Members get reduced ticket prices and access to member only events. Life and Ordinary members have voting rights at the AGM and can stand for Council.

If you are an existing member annual subscriptions should be paid before the end of March each year. You can pay your membership online here
